So what are our relaxation classes like?
Relaxation Class is a formal excuse to lie down in the middle of a city and take it easy for 30 minutes. Ones first impression walking into the candle-lit room, delicately scented with the fragrance of aromatherapy oils, is a feeling of peace. And you keep that feeling with you for the duration of the session.
You are given an eye pillow which is now yours to keep for good. This Irish-made lavender-scented pillow rests over your closed eyes during the lying-down sequence. It has a cool calming effect. The teacher starts the class by saying a short mantra to respect the ultimate consciousness of the universe
Om namo bhagavate vasu'devaya
Then we do a series of simple stretching exercises, before lying on the mat for the main event - taking it easy! We will now truly relax. Foreign infections like 'stress' and 'anxiety' become distant memories as gentle music and a guided relaxation sequence bring us deeply into a wonderful state of serenity...
